NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON

14TH MARCH 2014 - DAY 1

 

The session started at 10.30 am with the inauguration and lamp lighting ceremony. The Host and the Guests were:

Welcome Speech By Dr. Daniel Penkar

Dr. Daniel Penkar has begun his speech by explaining the role of Small Medium Enterprises in today's dynamic business environment. He spoke about how Small Medium Enterprises generate employment at a larger scale compared to big business units. He also focused on Small Medium Enterprises role in exports & how they contribute to the country's export and employment. India's economy is suitable for Small Medium Enterprises due to population, technology and the huge consumption of power. He concluded address explaining about SMEs in words by saying 'Small is beautiful'.

Key Note Address By Dr. E.B Khedkar

Dr. E. B. Khedkar, Dean of Management Faculty University of Pune, addressed to audience and focused upon the importance of 'Innovation' in the development of Small Medium Enterprises and how one should adapt to the role of lord Brahma the creator and contribute to the birth & development of Small Medium Enterprises. He focused on how youngsters should grab opportunities, mould them into new productive ideas and follow the right path to success without corruption. He concluded his speech by giving the formula of 'SMILE' (Sustainable Mission with Innovation, Love and Empathy)

Address By Chief Guest Dr. Sanjay Bhayani

Dr. Sanjay Bhayani explained how Small Medium Enterprises in India represent the model of socio-economic policies of Government. He said the main driving force behind setting up Small Medium Enterprises is wish to be 'Independent' that is one's own boss and he stressed to achieve business excellence in their field can result to the success in SMEs.

 

Address By Guest Of Honor Mr. Avinash Belgamwar

Mr. Avinash Belgamwar shared his secret of success as an entrepreneur. He expressed that one should come out of their comfort zone in order to find out one's own potential to accept new challenges which is essential to become an entrepreneur,

 

Business Plan Workshop By Ms. Padmini Panse, Ms. Ketki Joshi, (Bumble Bee)

Ms. Padmini Panse and Ms. Ketki Joshi motivated the students to become an entrepreneur with stories of some successful businessmen of India. They also explained the student how to prepare a business plan with some important Do's and Don'ts. With the importance of idea and passion, they also highlighted other important elements essential to be an entrepreneur like Purpose, Problem, Solution, Time to start, Market size, Product, Business model, Team and Finance.

 

15TH MARCH 2014: DAY- 2

 

Key Note Speaker: - Mr. Ravindra Utgikar

Mr. Ravindra Utgikar presented on topic 'Cutting edge business strategies for SMEs in Globalization Era'. The key points focused on 'ROI' (Return on Investment) that explains if proper investments are done then returns/investments will be good. He also spoke about how world economy changing rapidly with the examples of Wall Street & Jenet Yelen. He also explained the driving forces for globalization are politics, economy, technology etc. He concluded his address by saying few important quotes:

  • 'While going for stars don't let the grass below your feet grow'
  • 'If it is to be, it is up to me'
  • 'If you fail to plan, you plan to fail'
 

Technical Session: -

In the afternoon the Technical Session started by paper presentations given by various participants. The guest of honor was Dr. Mukund Tapkir. He was also the judge for the presentations that took place. The various speakers were as follows:

  1. Mr. Namdev Gawas, his topic was 'A comparative analysis of financial performance of select small enterprise (SE's) in Goa'.
  2. Mr.Girish Bakshi, his topic was 'Role of Small Medium Enterprises in the economy of the country with special reference to Educational Institutes'.
  3. Mrs. Renuka Walunj, her topic was 'Small & medium enterprises-problems and incentives'.
  4. Dr. B. G. Panmand, his topic was 'Future Of Women Entrepreneur As SMEs'
  5. Ms. Prachi Kulkarni & Ms. Snehal Salunkhe, their topic for presentation was Performance Analysis of MSME With respect To Indian Context?

Approaching to the end of the first half of the session our research head Dr. H.D. Thorat gave us a brief introduction of Dr. Mukund Tapkir. He gave a glimpse of what Small Medium Enterprises is actually, which was also followed by his thanks giving speech.

 

Sharing Of Experiences By Entrepreneurs: -

Mr.Kiran Godse & Mr.Swapnil Gore alumni of S.B. PATIL INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT shared about how they started their own enterprise. They also guided students of various business ideas, skills required, challenges that can be faced to be an entrepreneur. The third speaker was Mr.Girish Bakshi; he spoke about how life is related with a pack of cards. It meant that we cannot select the card of our own choice but to play with the available one.

 

Valedictory Function & Vote Of Thanks: -

Followed with the above was certificate distribution done by Dr. Anil Keskar to various participants. The session was concluded with a vote of thanks given by Dr. H. D. Thorat to all the dignitaries, participants, faculty members and students
