February 17, 2018: S. B. Patil Institute of Management has organized one day industrial visit to Mapro Industry, Mahabaleshwar on February 17, 2018. The company manufactures Fruit Jams; Fruit beverage concentrates – Crushes and Squashes; and Fruit Bars etc. The company official welcomed and greeted all the students and faculty members. They informed the students through video about the history of Mapro, Promoters details, product line, finance and functioning of various food processing unit, awards and recognition, marketing, physical distribution as well. The discussion was followed by the questions answers round where students raised questions related to lean principles, inventory issues, procurement decisions etc.

The students were taken to the shop floor where they got the opportunity to see various functional areas like processing of different fruit crush, jams, layout of plant, inspection process, line balancing, packaging process, inventory management, quality control, supply chain and other major operations of the company. It was really inspiring experience for the students to see how various machining operations and process the different type of food items. This visit helped the students to correlate concepts that they learn in the classroom and its practical applications. Overall the visit was highly interactive, knowledgeable to students and it inculcated a feeling of professionalism in them. The students and faculty members also enjoyed the Mapro fruit drinks at the plant. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Manoj Gadre and Dr. Kajal Maheshwari around 100 students of MBA –I and 11 faculty members attended the visit.
