WELLNESS CLUB

Yoga is a Sanskrit word, which means ‘connection’ or ‘union’. It can be used for connection with other people, or with the divine. Yoga refers to the spiritual discipline that includes meditation, exercises, physical postures, breathing techniques. It is done to improve physical health, mental health, relaxation, and overall well-being of the individual. The country INDIA is the motherland of YOGA.

The objective of this club is to make a stress-free and happy campus community using ancient powerful practices of yoga and meditation. This club officially launched on 3rd International Day of Yoga (21st June 2017). Since then the club is actively conducting sessions on yoga and meditation.

The main objective of conducting regular sessions is to instill the basic traditional yoga practices among the students as well for faculty members. In these sessions, the core team faculty member along with students takes initiatives and organizes the training to the learners of yoga. Programs can be attended by anyone who is in the campus. There is no official formality to become the member or join any of the session. The details of the sessions and programs are informed timely.

OM CHANTING DIVINE: VERY POWERFUL MEDITATION

The regular sessions are conducted on OM chanting during the class hours. These chanting bring harmony in the body and mind. Students chant mantras loudly and together in a group and recite in a normal or medium tone of the voice. These vibrations and rhythmic pronunciation also have a physical effect on the body by slowing down the nervous system and calming the mind similar to meditation. When the mind is relaxed, blood pressure decreases and ultimately the health of heart improve. So SBPIM club decides to practice these chanting as a part of their life.

March 24, 2018: Session on Sun Salutation “Surya Namaskar” was conducted by Dr. Daniel Penkar Director SBPIM, Sir is of opinion “The greatest wealth is health” who always imbibe in students and faculty member to practice healthy habits and force on doing exercise. Sir conducted session on Surya Namaskar which helps to bring body, breath and mind together. The asanas helps on impact on the stomach, liver, heart, intestines, chest, throat, and legs, which means the whole body from head to toe is benefited. After the session students got refreshed their mind, felt more energetic throughout the course of the day.

October 13, 2017: The session focused on asanas and pranayams which can be easily incorporated within their busy schedules and practiced environment. Students have done meditation, asanas like anulom vilom, dyaan mudra and other technique which is helpful in uniting the body with spiritual powers to help reap the maximum benefits. All the participants, Volunteers assembled in the hall so as to ensure that the practice session is conducted in the most conducive manner. After the Yoga session appropriate refreshments were served to all the participants.

October 6, 2017: SBPIM Wellness club has organized competition on Logo and Punch line making on the theme “YOGA” where objective was to inspire students’ towards YOGA and express their feelings. Students of MBA-I and MBA-II enthusiastically participated and made several motivating logos and frame the punch line for it.

REPORT ON YOGA FOR CONCENTRATION

September 12, 2015: P.C.E.T’s, S.B. Patil Institute of Management, Pune had organized a session on “YOGA FOR CONCENTRATION” session” the session was conducted by Mr. N. K. Lokhande. In his session he spoke about the health benefits of doing Yoga. Yoga works as internal make up. Performing yoga for 20 minutes can improve the brain function and also increase our concentration. It helps in calming the mind and getting rid of distraction thoughts.

He gave demonstrate some simple pranayamas that can help to achieve better focus:

Bhramari pranayama (Bee breath) helps you to ward off unnecessary thoughts and drives you to the present moment.

Brahma Mudra Mudras are basically hand gestures that help you to make changes to the flow of life force in the body.

Chin Mudra or Gyaan Mudra ‘Chin’ translates to consciousness and when you apply Chin mudra, you experience tranquility. Nerve endings are known to have significance in the flow of prana.

Date: February 23, 2015:To improve the concentration of students, S.B. Patil Institute of Management, Pune had organized a guest lecture on “Improving Concentration through Guided Meditation “ for MBA I & II year students on 23rd February 2015. The guest speaker for the session was Dr. Shirish Limaye. He told to the students frequent meditators can be able to alter their brain function. They are also better placed to calm their wandering minds compared to those who don’t meditate. He has shared various meditation techniques for concentration that students can practice to sharpen their focus. However, the best meditation for concentration is mindfulness. Today, we lead extremely busy lifestyles that prompt us to work on several tasks simultaneously. Mindfulness meditation simply involves focusing on one job at a time.

September 2, 2014: To chase the path of success, P.C.E.T’s, S.B.Patil Institute of Management had organised a Motivational Session for the MBA students on the topic “How to reach the Pinnacle of Success” on 2nd Sept, 2014. The guest speaker for the session was Mr Pramod Jain – Head Finance Training, Arcelor Mittal.

After his interactive session workshop on Yoga was conducted in the evening by Mr Pramod Jain – Head Finance Training, Arcelor Mittal who is practitioner of Yoga. He believed that success can be achieved if students improve the mental and physical health as well. He wanted to make them aware about how important it is to maintain mental health in today’s highly competitive era. Workshop also focuses on how they can practice daily Yoga, Meditation and other alternative therapies to improve mental power and productivity along with the professional knowledge they are gaining here.
